Here are some quotes from both athletes and spectators getting ready for the weekend!
2nd Year Athlete, Schwep: “There are so many things to think about when getting ready for the Tri. First, WOAH my body hurts! Training everyday has it’s costs, but the reward of crossing that finish line and getting greeted by all of the River Way family is well worth the trouble. I “Tri” for so many reasons. I “tri” to raise money, help a great cause, run side-by-side with by best friends and coworkers, and to see the whole River Way family again. I can’t wait!!”
The Coach, Mahoney “This event is much more than individual accomplishmments, it is bringing together the spirit of camp and supporting those friends who took on the challenge while remembering those kids who fight a much different challenge every day. It is Why We Tri.”
1st Year Athlete, Tootsie “The most inspiring part of training for the triathlon has been the mind challenge. Going into it, I did not realize how much training your brain needs as apposed to your body.”
1st Year Athlete, Hydro “Being a spectator last year was already sick, but participating this year no doubt will be even sicker! My favorite part of the event is how this family cheers you ip and mob up the beach, the energy is really really up there- I love it a lot.”
1st Year Athlete, Jenni (Wonder Valley Sales Manager) “I had no idea what I was getting myself into when I signed up for this Tri. Although training has been extremely difficult for me at times, it has also been very rewarding! For me, the best part of getting ready for the tri has been watching my 9 year old daughter, Chloe, watch me push myself. I want her to feel that she can attempt to do anything, and if she works really hard she will accomplish whatever goal she sets for herself.”
1st Year Athlete, Summit (Session 3-4 CIT) “The very beginning of my training was probably the worst. I volunteered for the Tri without really knowing how much it took. I have really had to teach myself discipline and some days it was really hard for me to push myself to train. Something that got me through was River Way- the thought of letting River Way down along with myself wasn’t an option. I feel like this is one of the greatest goals I’ve set for myself and I can say this experience really has shaped me. Though I am a little nervous for game day, I know I will have my River Way family right there with me.”
2nd Year Spirit Captain, Teeny “I am thrilled to be part of the spirit team 2 years in a row now. Last year’s triathlon was truly a rewarding and unforgettable experience! This year’s spirit team plans on taking the spirit to a higher level. We will be larger, lounder, and plan to have yet another memorable experience at the Tri. Prepare to have fun and be amazed!”
