River Way Ranch Camp has been competing in the Malibu Triathlon for six years and this year we competed in memory of Tanner Longstreet, raising nearly $18,000. Tanner’s dad was a camper, his sister is a camper, and he was a camper in 2012 who passed away in May of 2013. #TriForTanner or #Tri4Tanner were our calls to action on the beach Sunday and our families and our staff answered those calls with grace and enthusiasm. We couldn’t be prouder.
Kudos to each of our 44 athletes who participated this weekend. You pushed past the heat, battled the ever changing current, pedaled 18 miles with ease, and ran with a smile!
Congratulations to a few of our own who made the podium with honors:
Mahoney placed 3rd in his age division.
Spike placed 4th in his age division.
Chris Montross (Little’s husband) placed 1st in his age division and 2nd overall out of over 1,700 athletes!
Robert Montross (Little’s son) placed 5th in his age division.
Pamela Beeman (Pono’s aunt) finished 5th place in her age division.
Our 50 Spirit Team Members took over the board walk, the beach, and the streets cheering on all of the athletes. Their spirit, energy, loud cheers, flash mobs, and chants pushed everyone one to swim a little harder, bike a little smoother, and run just a little faster!
A big thank you to the River Way & Family Camp Families who joined us last Sunday, your support and love are deeply felt and truly appreciated.
