About River Way

Through years of experience and friendships, River Way has become a family tradition for both staff and campers. Many of our camper's parents attended River Way when they were young and express their excitement as they realize River Way continues to be owned and operated by the Oken family, going into its 45th year. Our campers share with us the many stories their parents have shared with them about the exciting memories they have from their childhood years at camp.
River Way prides itself on creating successful camp experiences proven to increase a child's self-esteem and confidence. Our caring and devoted staff guides campers through new adventures as they learn skills, make friends, and reach each goal, one step at a time. River Way strives for campers to return home with a strong sense of self-worth, a higher level of confidence, and a broadened excitement to try new activities. River Way places special emphasis on first-time campers and assisting all children in adjusting to residential summer camp programs. River Way increases the staff to camper ratio so that our campers are getting the individual attention which will ensure their success in many activities.
Campers are encouraged to challenge themselves while experiencing new adventures. River Way strives to develop the whole child, including self-confidence, character, interpersonal relationships, activity skills and environmental awareness. Children learn group living skills while participating in team building activities, thus learning the benefits of teamwork, effective communication and conflict resolution. Our parents comment frequently on the positive growth and maturity observed as campers return home after a minimum of a two week stay.
River Way has proven, time and time again, that a child, upon returning to school, after attending camp, is more secure and confident and willing to try out for extra curricular activities, sports teams, cheer, gymnastic teams, etc. Camp offers the perfect environment for a child to develop first time skills with the added benefit of being rewarded thus enhancing the feeling of accomplishment.
With each passing season the Oken family continues to share the many wonderful stories of thousands of campers who write in to thank them for the best summers of their lifetime. Parents who have attended camp themselves know the many advantages and benefits of allowing your child to participate in such a program.
River Way truly provides the ultimate resident camping experience where campers are encouraged to do their personal best and depart knowing their friendships and memories will last a lifetime.
